Morels ~ Fried Up Old School

It don't git no better than this

Fresh morels ~ breaded in crushed saltines & frying in butter

The ol' Griswold skillet, full of morels ... it's a beautiful thing

  5. bigdude, a friend of mine brought me these morels ... i'm gettin' too long in the tooth to trudge around the woods hunting them anymore. the morel season might be over already, where you live ... but you might want to check craig's list - lotsa sellers there. they ain't cheap, usually about $25/lb around here.

  7. Everyone here in Manhattan is going on about their morels, it makes me jealous every year, but I don't have the first clue on where to go to find 'em. They look so good!

  9. stacia, there's no real rules where morels grow ... along creekbanks is good, in woods around fallen/rotted trees, along fence rows ... i've even found them growing in old country cemeteries. if all else fails, check the manhattan craigs list - not cheap - $25/lb ~ but a pound of morels is a nice feast.
